What If" Chevrolet offered a special order car, to commemorate the GM "World Of Tomorrow" exhibit? This was at the 1939-40 Worlds Fair. This beauty offers cues from GM's first Harley Earl "dream car", the 1938 Buick "Y-Job". Here in a production car, we have "Y-Job" like hidden headlights, wide ribbed bands of trim across the fenders, trunk rib, taillight treatment, and wrap around bumpers. The car also has hidden running boards, and special low slung conv. top. All these things would have been bolt on additions to the standard 1940 Chevrolet shell. This would not have been your average 1940 Chevrolet however, but a "Future-Rama" Chevrolet made available to the common man. |
